An honest days pay for an honest days work. What more should be expected?
even so, Some employers still think they own their workers.
Stay true to your principles Glen.

Glen,
While it may not be any comfort now, remember, we are currently raising the next generation of Americans.
And from what I can see right now, most of them are "color" blind.
I know mine are.
And your friend was right, clock in, give them eight hours of the best work you can perform, then go home a forget about it till you clock in again.
Be careful, and...
Stay Frosty,
Ed

I replied to your original topic. I'm really sorry to hear about that! I seriously hope that that union representative will get something done about it! It angers me to think that these kinds of things go on.

Hang on, good buddy. And may I tell you that a) bigotry is not confined to AMTRAK, nor to colour, nor to race, nor to sexual orientation... there are those, and they will never go away, who are afraid of anyone who is 'different', and all anyone can do is pray for them.

[|)]I would like to take this oppertunity, to once again thank those who have replied to my last message. It was very enlightening for me to know that there are still decent humans out there who respect each other and do not judge some one by anything else but their character. As for me however, things are not going to be great in the coming year. The manager, who supports this foreman who's a bigot, is going to suspend me for thirty 'working' days starting the 4th of January. Eventhough my union representative is trying to stop it by filing an appeal, I feel it's all going to be for naught[V]. At my hearing back in November, we both argued the point that; one: my accuser (the foreman) was not present; two: that the statements could not be submitted into evidence; three: that the carrier had/has violated the agreement that they have with our union, just by having these proceedings, but some of that went by the wayside.
[8]Anyway, I really do not care at this point about repercussions and I'll tell you all who I work for...AMTRAK, in Washington, DC. I know some of you out there utilize Amtrak to the fullest, and I thank you for that, but, this is the type of 'bs' [:(!]that some of us have to put up with or go through, just trying to earn an honest living for ourselves and our families. There is this white co-worker who's been extremely supportive towards me during this time, and even he said to me that no one should have to go through what I'm going through. All we should have to do is, clock in; give them eight hours (maybe more) of "QUALITY" work; not have to deal with any 'drama' and clock out, period[xx(]!! Hopefully, with no more scars than when we clocked in and with all limbs and other appendages still attached and intact[8)]! So there you have it folks. Once again, thank you all for your heart felt support and imput[^]. I'm extremely greatful that there are some of us who have not lost our sense of humanity. God's Blessings Be Upon You All[:)]!! No matter what...KEEP ON RAILROADING!!!! Our country deserves the best from us! Happy Holidays to you all.
