This is actually good to see.  There have been ad campaigns before, but up until about the late 1990s, freight related rail ads seemed scarce.

The "PR" may be helpful but of course many in the general public would scoff at these ads whenever there is a trainwreck, and unfortunately there's been a lot of them since 2000.

I used to be teased quite a bit from co-workers that knew I was a railfan.  Comments such as  "Hey Tony, another one!"  or  "Heard about the latest train wreck?!" were the norm. Of course the "keeping the environment green" theme goes out the window when chemical laden freight cars are involved.Shock [:O]Black Eye [B)]

Freight Rail Works TV Ad

Some of you may have seen the AAR's Freight Rail Works commerical on TV.  Here's the website http://www.freightrailworks.org/

*Edit* The site hosts the TV commerical, as well as the radio spot and print ads.  There are also several information sheets and links to other resources. *Edit*

Granted it is an ad campaign for the rail industry, but it is interesting none the less.

And the answer to how far a gallon of fuel will go is...
One gallon of diesel, will move one ton 423 miles.
