I will be out in Oregon for business. One of my favorite spots is along the Columbia River, with BNSF on the north side and UP on the south.
Question, I would like to proceed further east than the Gorge...I'm pretty sure the BNSF winds its way up to Spokane after leaving the Columbia River. Where does the UP go as it continues east? I'm looking to drive as far east as possibly Idaho.
Thanks in advance.
Hinkle-La Grande were 2 places I caught the UPRR at other then in the CRG

Living nearby to MP 186 of the UPRR Austin TX Sub
I meant to say there is a large loco repair shop in Hinkle which is easily accesable & was very interesting. Naturally, they have a goodly supply of locos there waiting foor repair. I saw a unpatched ATSF war bonnet there amonst others. Also I think there is a line that comes down fron Canada that connects there & they have a hump yard that U can see from the south side of the tracks. Oh yes if U go DO NOT miss the A/trak station there. Besides being suprised at it I bet after saying oh no U will begin to chuckle

Yes I saw neat action in both La Grange thunder shower & all & Hinkle. The John Deere dealship there also is worth a look over
