Other than the brakes failing, I haven't heard of anything else that could have caused the accident. The other crew member managed to jump to safety.

Have they said what might have caused that one near Trail ?

Thanks for the information, Nanaimo.

 I live in the Nelson, B.C. but have lived in various parts of Western Canada keeping an eye on the various train movements across this part of Canada.

 We had an incident in the last couple of weeks where the brakes on a Canadian Pacific failed. The engineer died trying to minimize the damage.

GP9 1685 and white caboose 12580 (with large red LOOK LISTEN LIVE) usually haul black tank cars of corn suryp for ADM near Taylor Yard, at the south end. North of the Assinibone they handle flats and gons for Cowan Steel and insulated boxcars for Grace Canada Constuction Products, according to the Feb 2007 Branchline Magazine.

I see that BNSF still operates a couple of switching yards in Winnipeg. I was just wondering what businesses and rolling stock they are involved with there.
