Accidents reported to the ICC between 1911 and 1966 may be accessed through http://specialcollections.tasc.dot.gov/ under ICC reports. Be aware you will have to provide information concerning railroad, date, and location to narrow down your search. Happy hunting.

When I was only about 1 year old (1951), my parents, older brother and sister were traveling to Chicago on the (I think) Santa Fe Super Chief. The brakes failed as we were pulling slowly into the Chicago Terminal, and the train slammed into the platform area. My brother broke his coller bone, and I was tossed around inside the car, but was otherwise okay. Fortunately there were not alot of injuries.
I am interested in finding out just when this took place and if in fact it was the Super Chief. If anyone knows or has information as to were I can investigate this, let me know.
