I would venture a guess and say that if their PRB expansion plans go through they will be purchasing all kinds of new power. Up until now their mainstay seems to be rebuilt SD-40's.
You think this is bad? Just wait until inflation kicks in.....

Does anyone know if DME/ICE plan to purchase any new locos in the future? They are the largest regional in the U.S. right now, and we've seen smaller roads such as ARR, MRL, and FEC purchase new power. Heck, I'm surprised they haven't picked up any old B39-8Es or SD50/60s, or even some of those 90MACs that KCS was using for a while. I just like seeing modern power in new paint!
