Does anyone know when Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited will resume through operation between Chicago and NYC?  How's the repair work going after the derailment in upstate New York?

CSXDunce [D)] and AmtrakDunce [D)]Dunce [D)] are having a Q and A and neither seems to know what the operating plan isDunce [D)]Dunce [D)]Dunce [D)]. Some freights are rolling, intermodals mostly, but as for Amtrak, well CSX and The NYSSR would just as soon see Amtrak restricted to Albany/Rensselaer-GCT/New York. NOT Penn station. The Long Island wants its tracks back in good ol' Penn station. All this Barbara Streisand around letting Amtrak run is well Banged Head [banghead].

49/449 will try to go 3/18. 48/448 ditto. More than likely, the Empire service trains and the Maple Leaf will not run until Monday-if then.

Surprise-the Maple Leaf ran 3/19, a day earlier than announced by Amtrak. Not surprisingly, it ran full, since 48-49 were booked solid, with no 280-290s running yet.
