I believe UP's police force is the largest in the country, also the other railroads have their own poolice forces too. Good luck in getting a job as a railroad cop, it would be an interesting job. Also, if you do become one, don't go arresting any of us railfans thinking we're terrorists or something.

I have my degree in criminal justice and what you are saying is wrong.

You may not be commiting a crime against another person, but riding the freight trains the way you claim you do is still illegal. It's all psychological. You've convinced yourself what you are doing is either justified or not really wrong. Take for example the accountants who have cooked the books for major companies. They can hide a few thousand dollars here and there and it's justified in their mind because they've convinced themselves the company either can afford or deserves it and they'll never miss. Well, whether the company can afford to lose $1,000 or not doesn't make right. This form of white collar crime doens't mean that the person committing it is a bad person. They may go to church and are kind to others but it's still illegal and still wrong. Even violent criminals have justified in their mind the crime they're about to commit in order to go through with it.

Riding the freights is not right no matter what. If you make an excuse once for doing it then you'll make more excuses to contine it. It'll never end. Then if a railroad cop lets it slide once then where will it end? Next thing you know it becomes difficult to stop freight train riders because he let it go the first time so maybe he'll let it go the next 100 times. Pretty soon it snowballs and everyone is riding the rails because it was allowed somewhere else.

It's not a crime against humanity and it doesn't make you evil, but it doesn't make it right. It's a crime against the railroads and a headache as well for the railroads. If you got critically hurt riding the rails responsibiltiy could fall on the railroads and they don't want to go to court over some stupid lawsuit that they let some bum on their property and did nothing to get rid of him. How would you like it if someone can't hanging around and playing around and living around your place of work. Railroading is serious business and the train crews and police don't need to be chasing after trespassers all the time. Frankly if got a knock in the head from the police for tresspassing I wouldn't feel sorry for you.

Besides, why should the police, or the rest of us for that matter, look the other way on your trespassing? How do we discriminate between the bum and the terrorist? We can't and shouldn't do that, for that would be a double standard.

Any of my former CJ professors and teachers would agree with what I just said above.

STAY OFF THE TRACKS, STAY OFF THE RAILS, STAY OFF THE FREIGHTS. YOU DON'T HAVE ANY RIGHT TO BE THERE AND THERE'S NO REASON TO JUSTIFY IT. (Only except, of course, if you work there and then only if your job orders are to be there.)

Hey, I don't come to your house uninvited and make myself at home! Don't come to my RR uninvited and make yourself at home! Stay off of my train! If I find you, I will contact the pussyfoots or the local authorities and I will make sure that charges are pressed (the local law enforcement has asked me in the past if I wanted charges to be pressed.......The answer is YES! and the RR police handle it from there with the local authorities). Have a nice stay in jail!

SLIC you can't justify breaking the law. If you feel so strongly about riding freight trains maybe you should try to become a conductor or engineer.
Stay safe, support your local hobby group Stop, Look, and listen The key to living is to wake up. you don't wake up you are probably dead.

I have had several riders arrested and never felt bad about it. Yes they try and tallk their way out of it .. Never worked they went to jail. Oh and he never get a job with the railroad the old heads never would teach him anything, that attitude would get someone hurt and they wouldnt waste the time trying. they usually leave someone like that on the engine and i wouldnt listen to them i tell them to head for the 2nd unit and stay there.

Theres A lot Of RR Workers That Know Me Some Have Bought Me Dinner At Dennys A Yd Master In Illnois Took Me To The Tower And Showed Me How Every Thing Works After Buying Me Breakfast At Mc Donalds He Put Me On The
Right Train Ive Even Washed Cars In A Up Parking Lot The Bull Seen Me

Im The Guy Who Jumped From A Full Speed Golf Cart To A Boxcar In
Chicago ,Who Helped Catch The Key Stone Killer One Guy in Iowa
Killed Two train Riders For There Food And Shoes I Seen His Face And Chased Him Up To The Bull Tower As The Bull pulled Up He Seen The Guy And Recognized Him Drew His Gun And Told Both Of Us To Freeze
He Took Him To Jail And Gave Me Directions To The Truck Stop

I love the way Ken puts things.. So bluntly..
Ken.. congrats on your 3rd star.

I msut admit.. riding Feight Trains is dangerous.. We had one guy who did that.. he was between 2 gas cars.. and he slipped off on a bridge.. The bridge had no side to it.. it was just flat, and the guy fell 60 feet to the rapids bellow.. when he hit the water it was about two to four feet deep..

It's very dangerous.. i've seen documentarys on it.. Not only is it dangerous, it's stupid. Take a bus, Take somehting, find away..

Just be careful, man.

I don't regularily ride trains (though I did as a kid as a hobby) but when I do it is for vacations. I know its illegal and I know I could go to jail but there's something about it that I love about riding the trains across the country. I know I could be injured or killed and that's why I take every safety precaution necessary but no matter what there's always the possibilty. I've been arrested by RR cops and I don't blame them as they are doing their doing the job the company pays them to do and it also forces me to be stealthier when boarding a train and while on the train itself. Believe me, the last thing I want to do is tie down the system while some bulls grab me off a train and arrest me.

OK PEOPLE LISTEN UP [:(!]

If you want to ride the freight trains illegally that is your business and the railroad's business. If Ed, Ken, L.C. , or some of the other railroaders catch you, then be prepared for the consequences.

But PLEASE stop bragging about it in the forums. We have alot of junior high and high school age forum members and you might influence them to start the same illegal activities. Yes many will have the sense NOT to follow in your footsteps, but some might be tempted. PLEASE STOP GLORIFYING IT. THIS IS NOT A LIFESTYLE THEY NEED TO COPY.

GO BRAG ELSEWHERE ! ! !

JIM
Now THAT is Very unwaranted.

Jim your not going to descourage them from talking about it by yelling at them. That will only encourage them.

Far as i'm concerned, if you like riding Trains, Keep on going! thats right.. you heard it from me.. KEEP.. ON.. DOING.. IT.. I know if Kevin Caught you... he'd knock all your teeth down your Throat.. I know if Ken caught you'd he'd call the RR Police..

Thats all Jim that you neede to say.

Far as I'm Also concerned..
Keep Bragging about it, Prove that your better then the rest of us, As a matter of fact I reccomend you climb to the top of a RR car And try to Balance on one foot for the entire journey..

How much Bragging are you going to be doing after that? None.. You'll be dead

It's a simple solution, and I really hate to say it... But here goes
I suppose when you die, you'll stop telling us about how you ride freight trains..
Aristotle Said A=B Don't try to make D=A Because it won't work.
What that means:
Let the natural consequence of their actions flow with the behavior (A=B)
Yelling at them will not curve this behavior (D=A)

Keep bragging, actually I want someone to tell me, How far they actaully went!! Let's start a competition!!

Who should start?

OH I know! ME! ME!

let's see, i ride trains rarely, and when I do it is in a legit passenger train, Let's get SOMEONE to beat that!!

I love it when people tell me how much of AN IDIOT they acted like!!
We were sitting beside a guy in a restaurant one day, and two guys were becide us.. and they kept saying to each other.. "I Got so drunk last night, That I..."

Kevin after laughing for 20 minutes, leaned over and said "I can't darw a proper conclusion, Please tell me which one of you is the bigger idiot and loser?"

i'm getting angrier as i wrote this so i'm goign to stop, If you want to act like a moron, heres the Carte Blanche. the Nike slogan, JUST DO IT~!

And when your dead, tell them I told you, that you could do it!

Sound like a fair challenge?
I'll respond to this beofre Kevin gets a chance Because he'd knock ALL of your heads together.

Remember, This is a PUBLIC FORUM, you have the right to DISCUSS anything that takes place in PUBLIC life. You all want to brag about Ridding freight Trains on a public forum.. Hey go ahead.. Just remember someone who knows you is watching...

You know, you are right, "ME" ---this is a public forum and Jim has the right to state his opinion. I appreciate Jim's comments and altho I know that people think all caps are "yelling", I didn't take it that way. Thanks, Jim, for your comments.

I dont care if the kids want to ride they will go to jail like the rest of them. about a year ago we had some kids jumping the train nobody knew it. till the local who was following a thru freight saw the body of a 7 year old boy laying beside the tracks. bleeding from what was left of his leg. he slipped and his leg cut off just about the knee. his friends got scared and left him their. after a month in the hospital he still did his time in jail ( juvinile jail) it didnt hurt me i didnt twing. after the cops took the picture i got on the train and made my run. the only people they will hurt jumping trains is thier selves. and I dont need to here how good you are at it. that you aint been hurt yet. trust me, their are guys with 30+ years still git hurt. it happens so quick. but you live and learn.

Wow and Hmmm

you'll have to exuse Her, she may have gone abit over the top herself however i do agree with most of what she said

-TRUE: you can talk about anyhting you like on htis forum.. it is a public forum and you are the public..

-TRUE: If i had kids, and any of you encouraged them to ride freight trains, i'd come over to your house uninvited, and kick your ***.

-TRUE: Riding freight Trains is dangerous and you can kill yourself.

-TRUE You must have absolutely nothing to do if you risk your life riding freight trains, how about finding a job?

TRUE: it's kind of like SLIC's home town of "who gives a dam" thats percisely it. Riding freight trains and you die.. Who gives a damn? you shouldn't have been there in the first place.

TRUE: I don't believe Jim's post was out of line, If he yells at you, truse me, comming from him you deserve it. However insinuating that you can only talk about certain subjects on a public forum is false.

SLIC

Thank you. I have worked with youth for many years through church. I don't now but use to. I am very defensive when it comes to the youth. So naturally I keep an eye out for them. There are many who have good sense but there are some who are easily swayed. It is easy to start the wrong direction but hard to stop once going down the path. Thank you for realizing this.
