H.R. 876 picks up steam!

It's been a big week for the Local Railroad Rehabilitation and Investment Act. In the last 48 hours 18 new Congressmen have joined the list of co-sponsors bringing the total number of sponsors to 195!!

Within striking distance of the needed 219 for passage.

Your help in getting the last 24 sponsors by Christmas recess will ensure passage of this important legislation as part of the T-21 Transportation Bill that will reach the House floor in the spring.

VS- Here's a repost of my post from October.

LC

The Infrastructure Bill in Congress to provide tax credits for short lines to help them afford to upgrade to 286K cars. This bill will provide $10,000/mile/year of tax credits to the short lines for a five year period. So a 50 mile long short line could get as much as $2.5Million in transferrable tax credits to spend towards repairing infrastructure (track, bridges, tunnels, etc).

Keep your favorite line around. Write your congressman in support of H.R. 876. Over 150 Congressmen/women already have cosponsored. If 219 will, the bill can pass without a vote...

Got this info from my short line friends.

Thanks for the info. Sound like a good thing for shortlines, if it passes. Vic
