Ghost train of Ely Nevada...

Hello railfans
I though I would jump over from the modelers forum and inform you of a operation that is located in my town of Ely, NV.
Ely Nevada is a small old mining town located around 300 miles NE of Las Vegas up in the mountains at 6500 feet. The population is around 3000 people and a nice town to raise a family.
Ely has always until recently relied on copper and gold mining to support the local economy. This dates back before the turn of the century and there are some wild west stories to be told about the past of Ely.
We just happen to have two fully restored and up and running steam locos form the very old days of mining. The copper mine went down a few years ago but the trains that used to transport the ore to the smelter in McGill are still here for your enjoyment.
There is also an older diseal train that also runs from late spring to late fall weather permiting. They have special trips for special occasions and you can even rent the trains and go back in time and get some hands on fun as you run the original route to the mine and back. A two hour venture.
Here is the link to their home page giving all the inforamation need on our wonderful trains way up in the mountains of NE NV. http://nevadanorthernrailway.net/ Just thought some of you might be interrested in this and I am sure that many here have already been on these great steam locos. During the last winter olyimpics one of the steamers was taken by tractor trailer to olyimpic village in UT and was used to transport 1000s of people between sites.
Hope you have a look.
Mark in Ely, NV
