I hate popups with a passion!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't ever had popups on the Trains Magazine forums. For the past month there's been on the Classic Toy Trains forum. I just got one on the Model Railroader forum today. There used to be popups there all the time, but until that one today I haven't seen them in a while in the MR forums.

I agree! I hate pop ups, they slow down my computer. I wonder if they even work.

Pop-ups?
I've never seen pop-ups.....Thanks to Pop-up Stopper software. I'm glad to have proof that it works though. Here, all the time I thought internet pop-ups had been discontinued :-))

Use MozillaFirebird (or the Mozilla Suite), you'll likely not see any pop-ups unless you specifically authorize a site to show them.

I did the GOOGLE TOOLBAR tonight and it works just as good as what I had when I had AOL.

I get no pop ups with Netscape 7.0. I do with IE. That's why I use Netscape. :-)

Looks like I'll have to post my parody song over here, too.

Poppin Up Again
by ironhorseman
(parody of Pop-A-Top)

Poppin up again
I ain't got time to sit around
And read 'em all my friend
So I'll be gone
And you can let
Some other fool
Be roped in

I'd like for you to listen to
An ad I saw today
About a vacuum cleaner
That said it could do
It's own housework all day

I'd tried to click out of it
But it just wouldn't go away
Did you ever see a screen so filled
Of ads with purple pills?

Poppin up again
I think I'll try another page
They're they go again
So I'll be gone
And you can let
Some other fool
Be roped in

These ads to me
Are misery
And here I'm wasting time
Cause a pyramid scheme
And vanishing cream
Is not what's on my mind

But then you see
Them teasing me
And that's not what I prefer
But I'm right here
Steering clear
Of ads and compter nerds

Poppin up again
I think I'll try another page
They're they go again
So I'll be gone
And you can let
Some other fool
Be roped in

There are some very nice, FREE popup killers available for download at pcworld.com

I personally use McAfee, but that is because I get it for free from work (through the server). Panicware I hear is a good popup killer.

Like jsanchez stated, these popups are very annoying, and a real turn-off. I'm sure somewhere in the hallowed halls of Kalmback is some suit & tie who has no clue about real-world things except some "bottom-line" figure he reports to his pointy-haired boss each month. "Look Mr. VP, we can run these popups on our web site, and if only one percent of viewers go to the ad, we will increase our revenue by .0002%!" Well, Mr. VP, how about the 2.000% that quit coming to the site because of the ads, and perhaps out of disgust, quit Trains altogether?

I know that if I had to deal with the ads, and had a dial-up connection, I would have quit long ago.

Who came up with the horrendous decision to add pop ups to the website? Hello Kalmbach don't you realize people really hate these things, they slow down access to your site , probaly causing your site to discourage visitors. This is a truly bad idea, Pop Ups have killed many a good web business and made AOL into a money losing enterprise. I hope you end this misguided way off advertising. Everyone I talked to about these pop ups feels the same, there are other less annoying ways to advertise.

Just some constructive criticism from a subscriber, seller, and advertiser to Kalmbach publications,
