Posted by Anonymous on Monday, November 3, 2003 11:44 AM
Greetings
I was just hired as a Asst. Conductor for Amtrak and will be based out of Boston. Training commences on 01DEC03 and I'm looking for reading suggestions.

Thanks Gordon

everything you need to read will be given to you anything other than what the carrier gives you will only confuse you. and may not apply to what they want you to know. just be patient, and be prepared to be exhausted by the stuff you will haft to learn and haft to recall it at quickly.

How to Win Friends and Influnce People, by Dale Carnige, too teach you how to deal with know it all conductors.

The Rise and Fall of the Thrid Reich, by William Shire, teaches you how to deal with trainmasters, and why they are fundamentaly always wrong.

How to keep your Volkswagon alive and well for Dummies, so you can repair your GE locomotive in the field when it shoots craps on you with a 100 car coal train.
Stay Frosty,
