Looking for info on ICRX- Island Creek Corp.

I just watched Pentrex video Into The Allegheny Range Vol 1 it's about the CSX . The question i have is on the video there is a coal train with the reporting marks ICRX - Island Creek Corp. Does anyone have any info on this company or photos of there coal cars? I would like to model them for my layout and any help would be greatly appericated.

Island Creek Coal Company - from what I could gathere they are a coal company operating in western Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky. They are a large coal company and have been around a long time. They are now know as Czar Coal Corporation.

Funny you ask that. My father and I were down in Indiana this summer camping and we drove around Charlestown State Park. Part of the part was once a US Government facility. They are now store lots of railcars on the site. A spur into the park is filled with the ICRX hoppers. They are a pea green color with white data. They have been there some time due to weeds growing in and around the cars. I took some photos of the cars and have no way to post them. The Bowser 3-bay hoppers are a exact match. Maybe they will make them.

Island Creek Coal used to have over 200 hoppers in the 30000 series; these cars were yellow, with black data and no other markings. I never confirmed a builder, but they appeared to be close in design to cars coming out of N&W Roanoke in the 1970s.

The yellow cars are still around, but they're now lettered AEX (for The Andersons, a major leasing company); still in the 30000 series.

Never saw a pea-green ICRX hopper...that would be neat!

Good luck!
