Posted by Anonymous on Monday, October 6, 2003 12:17 AM
ON SEPT. 1ST, OUR CAR DEPARTMENT SHOWED US A MEMO SENT FROM JACKSONVILLE FLA. TO ALL SHOP SUPERVISORS AT SELKIRK AND BUFFALO. IT WENT A LITTLE SOME THING LIKE THIS. ALL MOJOR REPAIRS AND OVERHAULS DONE ON LOCOMOTIVES ARE TO FIRST TO BE APPROVED BY THE DESIGNATED UNOION PACIFIC LIASON FOR THAT SHOP. ALL FUNDING FOR SUCH REPAIRS MUST BE APPROVED BY UP FINANCIAL STAFF AT JACKSONVILLE. ALL MAJOR OVERHAULS AT SELKIRK AND FORNTIER ENGINE FACILITIES WILL BE SUPERVISED BY THE DESIGNATED LIASON .

I have a very nice shot of two UP engines working at Fort Drum on the CSX Montreal Secondary last week, and they were headed north from there. I'd be interested in seeing the whole memo - probably does have to do with UP engines only. This is how rumors get started! Next we'll see it quoted in the trade press as an indication of the upcoming merger...
