I opt out of any newsletters, I have enough trouble reading my normal E-mail.
I really liked the look of the July issue with the red background to the existing masthead. With the blue Conrail loco, it showed up really well. It did remind me of the old logo from DPM's time but in a current form. In general, not having seen the proposals, I think italic lettering would be good, white on a red background. Model Railroader has kept the basic logo for at least forty years, white on blue and is still as successful as ever. I think the lettering should be horizontal, not slope upwards at present, and this will allow more photo area.

Yeah, it's probably in my e-mail that I had deleted last week, and I may not have it in my trash either. Thanks for letting me know I missed it, guys.

apusztai wrote:Hello! I just wanted to alert everyone about an opportunity you will have as recipients of the TRAINS newsletter. You can submit your vote on the new TRAINS logo which will appear on our January 2007 cover. Don't worry! The inside of the magazine will have all the great news and stories you know and love. So, please help us out and tell us what you think by filling out the survey in Monday's newsletter. Thanks! Angela J. Pusztai-Pasternak TRAINS editorial associate

I liked the old school logo, too, I like "throwback" jerseys, espically the San Diego Chargers light blue, with all the lightning on the pants and the white "lightning" helmets. After that there's the "Patriot Pete" New England Patriots' look with red jerseys, white helmets with "Pete"on them. But they won those Super Bowls with "Elvis" helmets on !
Angela;
First of all, Thanks for asking us our opinions here on the Forum!
We have plenty of those.
As expressed by some of the other posts, I am of the 'if ain't broke, don't fix it' school.
My question is why change it now? The magazine seems to work pretty well, the last issue, in my opinion being an excelent read. The current masthead is highly recognizable in its target market. Are you going to re-jigger the content, and regular colums, or just the masthead?
Thanks,

Both are better than the current one. Could they be made smaller, more like the old DPM logo ? I would like to enjoy the cover photograph, but there is so much clutter on the cover.
Deleted the e-mail...crap, I didn't even look at it! Oh well. I vote nothing. Trains is changing their logo AGAIN??!? They changed it to what it is now in January 2002, that was just about 5 years ago. Whatever it is, I'll get used to it, but for pete's sake!

I liked the "slanted" version...attracts teh eye better, where as the straight logo just looked like a lable.
