You guys are right it is Wells. The SP was first through in early 1869 with the first transcon. Then WP built through in 1906. Then in 1927 the UP built down from Twin Falls as a short cut for PNW-Nor Cal traffic (I'm going on memory so the years may be off by 1). Not sure exactly when the UP pulled out, Dale do you know? I traveled this route up through Jackpot a couple years ago and the grade is the only real trace of the railroad once out of Wells.
Yes.
1435mm-Why did the UP leave their line in place for so long (10 years?) after abandoning it ?
Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

Could be MS
Well....."could be" is sort like "might be", and if it" might be", it "might not be". So, I guess the only thing to ask is...to be, or not to be?
So, I'll take that as a yes.
ndbprr, That is a good guess but there were 5 railroads in Spokane. Three did have Pacific in ther name though.

I'm not going to answer it for awhile. The first line "out" intrigued me for years because of what happened, or didn't, after it was abandoned.
