pcupdstorm, oops! make that Yardley at Spokane, not Hill. Name a really good facility after one of the Pacific NorthWests great railroad builders (NP (ownership, not building), GN, SPS) and some "Eastern Punk" goes and rips it up.

Hillyard is no more. It was GN yard. GN main severed between Hillyard site and Newport. MRL goes to Yardley, the exNP facility.

MRL operates into Hillyard, Spokane, WA.

As an aid in your efforts, the buildings and bridges in the area have a separate heritage from the railroads now running. UP was at one time the SI (Spokane International) and the MRL line is still owned by BN and leased to MRL, and is the original Northern Pacific main line from the 1880's. I don't remember for sure, but I think the BN still retains overhead rights to run its own trains on the MRL if it wants to.

CP power usually changes out at Hinkle (between Boardman and Pendleton, OR), but sometimes operates on to Albina (Portland, OR). Alternate trains run CP power, then UP power, then CP ETC. At least they used to.

Probably the power seen at Roseville was hours-equalization power or short term leased for hours-equalization payback later.

I have just recently seen a set of CP run thru power all the way south to the UP Roseville Ca. loco facility 2 weeks ago. So i guess if its a train to the S.F. bay area or L.A. they could leave the CP power on it.

I know trains did a profile on this location however I can't find the issue.Check with the people at trains.

I would like any information on this area. I am in the planning stages of building a HO layout on this area. Would like to find out how far MRL trains run past Sandpoint Junction on BNSF. Does Union Pacific have Canadian Pacific
locos on any freight trains. As a story in july 98 trains said that UP CP where going to run trains to Spokane on the old CP/SOO/SI line from St Paul to Eastport then onto Sandpoint and Spokane.How far past Spokane does the CP power run.
