Maximum speed 65, restricted to 55 mph
68 seats; blue fabric with leaf pattern

$52.5 million for 16 vehicles with the option to buy 25 more
$427 million for the whole project.
It will run 9.6 miles from I-485 to Seventh Street with 15 station stops.

I hope someone else saw this and the irony was not lost. Charlotte's new light rail is supposed to be operational by fall 2007. The first car was delivered yesterday from California. That's right, you guessed it...some 3000 miles...by TRUCK.
