r.r. correpondence?

everyone has seen ads for correspondence schools.. air cond. repair, bookkeeping, computer trng. by mail, etc.

in the 50s, correspondence schools advertised the same thing with one twist, they offered r.r. trng.. of course, this went out w/flagmen at r.r. crossings..

i would like to hear from anyone who was involved with r.r. trng. by mail, or knew someone who was involved..

i recall the ad posted only 'railroad' as the option.. as the kind of jobs sponsored were middle-class positions, these must have been positions such as crewman, yard and call-out clerk, dispatcher.. but, that's an assumption.. does anyone know better?
