I had something come up that I'm having to move to Alliance, NE. My fiance's dad worked on the RR out there and recomended for me to apply. BNSF was hiring for Track maintenence and Conductor Trainee positions for there so I applied for both. I have the test/ interview next week for the Track maintenence job and the conductor job the following week. Thats where my question comes from. I'm new to the RR but know people who work for UP and they like it. First I was wondering which job is better for type of job/ money/ career advancement, etc. Also by having two interviews is this frowned upon by BNSF or should I just tell them at the first interview that I have another the next week? Also if they do offer you the job how long after the interviews does the training start since right now I live about 4 hours away we weren't planning on moving for about a month. Any comments, suggestions, or criticism would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forums! Just follow everyone's advice, who has posted above,
and I'm sure you'll do just fine! Good luck on both interviews. And come to the
Depot Diner for a cup of coffee and a dessert on the house.

I know in the UP screening / interview sessions they tell people to buy a videocam, so they can have a way to see their kids grow up, since they'll be spending 60-70 hours a week on the job !!

Let the MOW person doing the interview, or the Human Resources person know that you you have two interviews...
As for money, the conductor job will pay better, and be less physical.
But it will keep you away from home a lot.
So will the MOW job, but in a more consistent manner, couductors off the board can end up anywhere.

For both, sell yourself, and sell the safety angel in that you dont take risks, and can think throught a problem.

Good luck,
Ed

Welcome to the board. There are many here that could answer your questions much better then I can so I'll leave that to them. Just getting the interviews is a good start though. Good luck with it.
