FEBT August Rockhill Work Session
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 3:54 PM
The next Rockhill work session will take place Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10. We will work from 9 am to 6 pm Saturday and from 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

We'll meet at the Rockhill shops at 9 am.

Bring shovels and picks! Come dressed to paint!

This is the railroad's Community Appreciation Day. For that reason, we want to be very visibly working on up-beat, morale-boosting projects next to the parking lot, including spiking new track and painting. We will also be adjusting our projects to reflect the fact that there will be shop tours and an increased amount of public on Saturday.

PROJECTS WE WILL WORK ON (priority order)
1. Spike Track 3 and continue tie replacements. You will need to wear safety glasses if you are working on spiking. We have a limited supply, but you are encouraged to bring your own.
2. Paint the north wall of the car shop.
3. Prepare and cut glass for standard shop window sizes.
4. After painting is complete, we'll move to complete siding repairs, trim installation and caulking on the east, north and west walls of the electrician's shop preparatory to priming in August.
5. The overflow task on Saturday is to continue work on the north section shed, with the goal of beginning the reinstallation of sheathing. That requires us to finish straightening the building and tying the front and back portions together.
6. On Sunday, when there are no shop tours, we'll begin again on windows in the main shop door area.
7. On Sunday, we will survey the extent of the decay and prepare a materials list for the roof work in the car shop "canyon" area.

GROUND RULES
To take part you must be 18 and a member of the FEBT (or join the FEBT at the work site.) These are insurance requirements. We are guests of the railroad and need to behave accordingly.

Last-minute walk-ons are always welcome at our sessions, but if possible, drop us an email in advance to let us know that you are coming. It helps with the planning.

See you there!
