how about the Government of Quebec commercial... Where a guy they call *** is racing a train.. the picture keeps flipping from his spidometer... to the train.. to his face...

And the announcer sais "*** is in a hurry today.. he can't afford to be stuck behind the train.. "

the camera keeps flicking from him, to the speedometer and the train.. then it goes to the corssing where the gates have already touched ground...

then it goes back to his facial expressions, speedometer and the train.. the camera goes faster and faster until... him/speedometer/train... faster.. then the train his his car...

crash.

The next thing you see is a *** in a mangled car being pryed out by police, blood everywhere...

the announcer somes back on:

"don't be a ***, you always have time to wait for a train... a message from the Governement of Quebec"

it goes somehting like that.. very graphic. maybe not for kids.. mind you is is on air up here.. it sure delivers the message..

Sounds like it will be a cool video. I think you should do a section on Maintenance Of Way vehicles such as HY-RAIL pickups, cranes, rail flaw detecters, etc.

On the constructive side-

a section on the track-ties, rocks, etc and the people who maintain it

a section on bridges, buildings, and other engineering

the section about people could include the clerks, yardmasters, officials

Perhaps you might reconsider how much detail you provide on how to operate a locomotive. All readers and/or viewers may not be as altruistic as you are, and might use the information for dastardly deeds. Although I have been told I'm a bit paranoid...

Final call for Ideas for Children's Train Video
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 8:56 AM
Thanks to all of you who sent in suggestions for our Trains video for children. We begin filming the speaking parts next week. If anyone else has any other suggestions, please let us know. We will be completing the script this week.

Thanks for all of this wonderful information. Here is what we have gathered from the Trains.com board:

We will include a safety section. This safety section will include Stop/Look/Listen/Live.
We will try to include a section on buying tickets and getting on board and having the ticket taken.
We will go over the Engineer, Fireman, Brakeman, and Conductor.
We will discuss different types of trains for different routes.
We will discuss the different types of cars and what each car transports.
We wil have many steam trains.
We have contacted the Tennessee Valley Railroad and will be filming there on 8/11/03.
We will look into having model trains in the video.
I will see if we can't have children in the video making the "Whoo Whoo" sounds....

Start Smarter Videos plans to show the children all of the controls in the cab of both Diesel Electric and Steam trains. We will have plenty of trains racing by, close ups of couplings, and even the caboose and end of train device. However, we know that suggestions from real rail fans [:)]can make the difference in our video. This video should be released in late November.

If you have any other thoughts, please let us know. We will be monitoring the board throughout this week.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
