Looking for a Budd Car

Any decent RDC cars for sale out there? Looking for a unit that can be brought to decent operating condition. Not as concerned with interior as I am planning a complete interior rebuild (walkover seats as built are no longer FRA compliant). Must have two engines, transmissions intact, no major wreck, fire or vandalism damage and moveable by rail. Oh, yeah and it can't be extremely expensive (Hist Soc'y project)

Contact Industrial Rail Services in Moncton, New Brunswick. They aquired most of VIA Rail Canada's stored RDC fleet. BC Rail also the last two up for sale, an RDC1 and an RDC3. VIA Rail's RDC's had the walk-over seats replaced with standard coach seating better for longer trips. BC Rail did the same.

Thanks for the info, I had wondered where the VIA cars had gone. I think that the pricing on these cars will be much more than the group can afford. Really looking for a car that has been stored away or is in a "used" condition. I have found one at Illinos Transit Assembly but I'm sure there are others.

LC,
The RDC's at Industrial Rail in Moncton are in various states of repair. They may have a real bargoon for you. And if you are using American greenbacks, they stretch a lot farther up here in the great white north.

Jeff-
Yes, they are in various states (I saw a few of them some years ago as a consultant) but I doubt Industrial Rail will want to simply sell me one "as is". Judging from their website it seems they are trying to completely rebuild and sell the cars. Given that they only have about 30 cars I would think that they won't want to part with their inventory for the rebuilding cheap.
Also, all the VIA cars have some FRA issues as many of the safety appliances required in the US have been modified or removed.
