Often they are written that way!
RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.
Press releases concerning rr information are certainly hyped with spin and added details which don't apply simply to create attention. The in house rr employee releases fall into this quite well. One area which the rrs have improved on is restricited information. It used to be that if a crew was involved in a grade crossing accident, the names of the crew members would be made public. I believe this now is outlawed and for the better. BNSF has a policy of not releasing names of crewmembers and all crews now carry what is called collision cards which have a rr contact for the media. Some workers have been harrassed and even received death threats all because their name was made public through a news release.

Shoot. I boxed for six years in Golden Gloves, getting my pumpkin punched. Now I live in a constant fog.
Poppa_Zit SFbrkmnKeep in mind that Newswire is a media outlet. We all know how the media likes to create attention. Just because it was reported does not mean the facts are for real. The Newswire also contains information put out by public relations firms working for their clients. Meaning press releases. Meaning hype (hyperbole) and extreme embellishment of facts. I'd say a majority of stories on the Newswire have their base in press releases. PR firms are not considered media; rather, they court the media to get free exposure for their clients's products and services.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
BTW, I saw that story on yesterday's Newswire too. It was right before the story about UP going green with 100 percent electric locomotives. In fact, they've already started installing the middle rail west of the yard where Carl works. I'm sure he'll chime in here with more details.

Was already tried - in 1999 by Rob Krebs (BNSF) and Paul Tellier (CN) - both gone now. STB imposed an 18-month moratorium to study major mergers - after unsuccessful appeals to courts to lift moratorium, merger application was withdrawn. Principal issue was how to fit that long name on the side of all freight cars, esp. flats. - remains unresolved to this day.
