Canadian Cool-Aid

What ever happened to VIA's F40 6406 painted up as a Kool-Aid ad? I saw this in August of 2000 Trains magazine. Are there other locomotives like this? Could this be a solution for Amtrak funding? Putting sponsor's ads on the sides of trains like NASCAR?

I recently found this site which talks about putting advertisments on Amtrak passenger cars. It's not a railfan site, but it does give a lot of good information about it and shows some pictures of a passenger car advertising Burger King.

Ads on the side of trains -- not a bad idea.

Think about it, they have a captive audience as they make their way through railroad crossings.

I would just hope they don't use them for political campaigns. It would be scary to see a portrait of some candidate the full height of a boxcar. Imagine seeing a giant head of Ross Perot on each car of a 60 car train. LOL!!

yea VIA has these for their trains

6429 had Home Hardware
6403 (I think) has CBC
No idea what Koolaid was.
Forget what Telus is, Maybe 6429
And then there is Operation Lifesaver.

Via also has a repainted 1st class LRC car that they use in the Quebec City windsor Corridor that advertises Bell Sympatico wireeless internet.

10000 feet and no dynamics? Today is going to be a good day ...

No? Really? I though it was that fuzzy thing with horns all you Canadians seem to have hanging on your wall, instead of a set of Longhorn racks. \./

You are right traisessive1, 6403 is CBC. For our neighbors to the south, CBC is the Canadian Brodcasting Corporation. 6403 was painted up specifically to haul a special cross country train that stopped in many Canadian cities to promote CBC's 50th anniversary.
