Is there a date for the withdrawal of the F40C locomotives? I would like to get some video and photographs of them before they are gone. Where would be a good location to do this? Thanks for any info.

I think they mostly run on Milw district lines. Metra has a great website & information. I'd try riding the trains from north side of Union Station out north & northwest. Their best deal is a 10-ride ticket along the route. My favorite place would be Franklin Park (not far from O'hare) and home to great Nscaler End of Track Hobby. It's on the Milw Elgin line & the new Antioch line splits off near there. Be careful & be safe with any Chicago locations outside of CUS!

How many does Metra roster, and did any other railroad roster them besides Metra and its predecessors? (I always thought they were kind of ugly, but, hey, they're neat to have around, lol)

I just saw the new replacement engines last Friday. Pretty sharp looking. One train was double headed. This was on the ex CB&Q line east of Hinsdale.

If you would like to see a picture of the "replacement" locomotives for Metra, check out this webpage

I took the picture while I was standing next to Dave Nelson at Highlands.
