A weekend off and I have my 15 min of fame right here!

Thanx guys - you made my day.

As I have told Ed - I am no more complicated that I like what I see and want to know more about it. I print off some of the techno answers and take them home and read them in the evenings. This train business sounds incredibly hard and physical, while at the same time being incredibly interesting and even a little romantic.

I take pictures just to pass on to people who want to see what we have here in the Lincoln yards. I don't keep them - I don't want toys or pictures - I want the real thing.

It is as simple as that. I appreciate your being so patient with me and answering what must seem like some really silly questions to you. But I do want to know, or I wouldn't waste both our times asking. And sometimes I don't remember everything, so I re-ask those questions again. Age will do that to you!

But above all, I really enjoy the the humor that goes through these threads. Long may it continue.

Oh, and just one other thing, I don't know Mookie/Jen, but she sounded a lot like a woman I used to know (another one who actually enjoys railroads) but she clearly isn't so I'll leave that one go...

Bring on the questions...

EEEEEZZZZEEEEE there Ed. Don't pop a cork. Maybe working for the NS has me lookin' over my shoulder, but that's with good cause. At any given time about 20% of our Division is on the sidelines from the latest in high tech weaseling. We have ATMs that actually wear fatigues when they watch us switch at night (yes, I've seen them), lists of Engineers to be bannered this week and cameras allegedly used to monitor grade crossing collisions that record in cab conversations for later use against us (we have already had one such investigation). So if I'm a bit concerned about someone I know tenuously and electronically at best, I guess you'll just have to bear with me, 'cause that's the way it is....

Hey! Hey! Let's take this thread in the spirit that it was started! I'm not knocking Mookie! I'm not bagging on Mook. If you've read her posts for any time, it's obvious she is okay. I'm just curious what she's doing with all this info. She certainly isn't a spy. On my road, the spy just sits in the parking lot and watches you. Mook is a fan. I'm just messing with her head; you know, trying to make her smile on Monday morning. [Ed, I think most of these posts were tongue-in-cheek .] This thread is part of the "Mookie Challenge."

Ok Guys,
If you need a testomional, and a charater witness, here I am.
I can give you this much information about Mookie, aka jenny, with out her permission, anything else, you have to ask her.
No, she does not work for a railroad, or any industry or party even remotely connected with one. Yes, she is married, to a rather tough dude who is a black belt. Yes, she is a bonified fan, has sent me some of her photos. She is from a railroad mans family, but he didnt pass on a lot of knowledge, so she is teaching herself.
None of her questions have ever hinted at anything except honest couriousity and a genuine interest in railroads and railroaders, and based on some of the comments here in this thread, I am some what ashamed to be one of us right now.
I noticed not a one of you made or even hinted that some of the more knowledgeable male fans who asked even more detailed questions might be a "spy".
Shame on you guys, the lady is showing interest not only in what you do, but interest in you guys as people, not just railroaders.
Its no wonder fans get an attitude with us, when we treat one of the really nice one like this.
Still hot,
Ed

Sorry, guys, we aren't all paranoid...
I'm happy to give straight answers based on my ongoing employment experience with UP and a predecessor (oh, all right, the CNW!). I hope I'm not divulging privileged info, but (being a railfan first and a railroader second) I'm trying to respond with answers that an intelligent, curious railfan (such as my newly-adopted kid sister Mookie) will be interested in.

Keep asking questions. All of the Up employees are paranoid. Rightfully so. I do learn something from your questions. Keep up the good fight!
