Just got a reminder in the ole e-mail [^] and renewed my profile and logged on. Did not even realize there was a forum here. Some else has already said to make this more evident on the home page for for trains.com.

I liek this format and will try to return when work permits - with work and unviersity together not much time to play.[8]

Sorry, but I spent my entire railroad career in management, in marketing, pricing, and sales, and have a different viewpoint on things. I respect the right of others to have a different opinion, but the union guys don't. My ethnicity, legitimacy, ancestry and sexual orientation were all called into question, even though they were never brought up by me. [V][V][V]

It's really good to see another "old professional" here. [:D] We have had several discussions that involved such things as rates and revenue and it sure would have been good to see your input on how those things are figured and the rational behind them. Two threads talked about Amtrak funding and included the above subjects.

I am a former station service employee with train and engine experience. It was "you guys" that put together the tools I needed to move the cars (other than the engine and tracks). I know how it's done, and have done it myself, on occasion, but that is no substitute for an experienced dooer.

Like Ed says, there are other railroaders on these forums, but since it (literally) takes all kinds to run a railroad, Welcome, Welcome, Welcome back.

I have subscribed to trains for years, and have been regestered to this site for some time without realizing this forum was here.Perhaps they could make the banner on the homepage a little more catchy.

I've been a member for a long time but just got into the forums a few days ago. I'm 12 years old and have loved trains since I was about 4 or 5 years old.

Was wondering, because I am thinking of turning my own wheels out of brass stock, and though I would try a true scale version, but was wondering about track. Will have to do a little more research on the trackwork. Thanks,
Stay Frosty

Havent decided if I like all the new gadgets or not, but it sure looks a lot better, and I like being able to move around as easily as you can. And the e-mail thing was a great addition.

I hope that will not happen again!! I have a question for you. I see a lot of empty spine cars or lumber cars heading back North empty. Do railroads make money on one way cars? Have they looked into finding a commodity to load on these cars so they do not go back empty? Seems to me in today's economy one way loaded cars are break even cars.

Hey Kev,

Canadian and proud to be so. Ya know, once CN takes over the entire USA, we'll ALL be Canadian and then our brothers and sisters to the south will get to appreciate the joys we take for granted. Molsen Canadian (and the commercials that go with it), Bon Homme de Neige, moose in the back yard (white tails in mine) and one of the finest rail systems in the world. (now THAT may generate some heat)
Take care Kev

I have read Trains magazine for some time but until I got High Speed hooked up, it was way too slow for me to browse the forums. Now that speed restrictions are nil, I have been greatly educated (and entertained) by following the various topics. And the new forum layout is great.
