Pick one of the above (any one will do) if anybody does not like the new paint scheme.

Now you how I felt when Erie Lackawanna was absorbed in part by Conrail and most of the rest abandoned. Actually, I'm not doing too badly, BRC has been wearing variations of the same colors since they dieselized and IHB in orange isn't too bad as long as it doesn't fade like it did in the 1980's.

For some reason all the old pictures I see of Santa Fe F units from the 1960s show engines that look perfectly clean. I guess back in those days major railroads kept their locos as clean as possible, espeically the passanger cab units.

I have yet to see a newly painted BNSF engine, though a couple of friends have seen them and of course bragged to me as soon as they got the chance.

Impressive, since those are siblings of a lot of the engines we have here!

You can be sure that the H3 and speed lettering are going to be around for a while when switchers are getting repainted into that pattern.

How are they deciding which of the older units gets a repaint 1st or is it going by Major work done?

Cool, it's nice to see one of my photos featured in this topic.

By the way 6806, 6821, 6839, 6885, 7835, and 7888 are the SD40-2 repaints

Recent repainted BNSF locos
Posted by Lyon_Wonder on Thursday, February 9, 2006 3:08 PM
I decided to start a new thread on BNSF repaints, and provide a photo tour of these engines.

Here are some very recent pics I’ve found of the latest repainted BNSF locos.

C40-8W BNSF 871

What BNSF 871 looked like only a few shorts months ago

BNSF 871 at the shop in Livingston, MT wearing primer with the old Santa Fe Warbonnet missing and waiting to be repainted into H3.

C40-8W BNSF 882 at Springfield, MO in Oct 2005

BNSF 882 three and a half months earlier at Galesburg, IL

Newly repainted MP15 BNSF 3704

BNSF 3704's worn-out patched BN scheme looked well overdue for a fresh coat of paint.

BNSF 3704 in BN and Frisco paint as BN 1004.

BN 1004 (ex-SLSF 365) a year or so after BN bought the Frisco in 1982.

And finally, here’s BNSF 3124 GP50, again.

And finally, here’s GP50 BNSF 3124 again in Livingston, MT, this time sandwiched between two SD45s.

This is what GP50 3124 originally looked like brand new in the late 1980s in BN paint with the experimental tiger stripe nose.

BN later painted over tigers stripes.
