I would appreciate some info on New England Central's SD40's. Are they still on the roster and if so, have they been painted in the blue and gold paint scheme? Thanks for any help.

Neil,
The NECR SD-40's (the ones I've seen) are old ConRail units. They are still blue and you can still see the raised paint of the ConRail lettering through the blue. They have been stencilled (roughly) w/ NECR and road numbers in white. Incidentally, one of these units was involved in the washout/wreck in Westminster, Vt. about three weeks ago. It recieved significant body and fuel tank damage (the tank was impaled clean through by an upturned rail) but did not look to be totalled.

Thank you, Chris, for the info, it confirmed what I had gathered from other sources. I live in the Williamsport, Pa. area and a picture and article on the wreck you mentioned was in our local paper.
