Green Goat Swticher
Posted by rrbrewer on Saturday, July 5, 2003 12:00 AM
The Green Goat, a hybrid switcher [using a small diesel engine and battery bank] has been in the news the last year or so as a way to reduce yard pollution and increase fuel economy. It supposedly has been tested by Union Pacific and some others [web site http://www.railpower.com/].

Has anyone out there had hands on experience with any of these units [or know of anyone who has] and does the concept work?

Marty, the Chicago Tribune had a article on it. It was a start up company who's name slips my mind. I will try to find that article.

Don

You say that one has been at UP Proviso, have you seen it or talked to any of the users? It is made my Railpower in Vancouver BC, www.railpower.com. It sounds like it works a lot like a Toyota Prius
