chicago metra has a weekend pass deal where you can ride all day for a reduced price and could do a metra ride from for example lasalle street station to joliet and return or seek another station to railfan from then return to your original station or union station the schedules and routes are available at the stations or on the web

I have taken my boy's about 4 times this year. It's a good time if you are looking for something to do with the kids. I live in Buffalo Grove Ill. so we take Metra downtown and check out the sights. The kids have a blast. We take a morning train in and a afternoon train home. (Also gives Mommy a nice break.)I Suggest anyone with children to check out a Metra daytrip train ride.

The Metra pass is $5.00 for both Saturday & Sunday. 2 children can ride Free with every Adult pass. Excellent way to fill the trains, some of the Saturday trains are just about as full as weekdays, but the noice level is a bit louder, with all the kids enjoying a train ride. Who knows, they may be the next generation of commuters. Bob
