Eric, re read your post, notice you mentioned you were using acrylic paint, be sure to tell the paint salesman that, it makes a difference in what type of primer you use.

Did you prime the locomotive, and if so, what color. I had the same problem on a SW10 I scratch built, the Armour yellow looked more like the mellow yellow in the pop can.
Shot automotive grade white primer through an air brish, let it dry 48 hours, (I know it looks dry in a hour, belive me, it aint) and then washed it with cool water, sanding the flat surfaces with 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper. You can buy both at any auto parts store that sells PPG paints. I then shot the yellow over it. Worked like a charm, even seemed to make the gray look better.
Just a though,
Stay Frosty,

C&NW Yellow Color

I am repainting two of my C&NW C44-9W from Kato (never leave thinner and locomotives near eachother). I at this point am using the Acrylic Polly Scale CNW Yellow, but it just seems to look a little faded and less vibrant than it should. Am I losing it? What would my other friendly C&NW (and anyone else who knows about it) recommend for the yellow to repaint them with? Thanks in advance.

Eric
