Have you tried the C&O historical society website? I don't have the link handy, but use your "noggin", or a search engine such as askjeeves.com and you'll find it. They have a very impressive database, although I'm not certain they have anything on the particular line you speak of. It's worth a try though......

I was curious to know if anyone would have any info. on the abandonment of the C&0 from Winchester KY to Ashland KY. Info. being like websites that may deal with that particular line that may possibly have photos or such. I know that is was abandoned around 1983 or 1985. Right about the time of Seaboard System and CSX. You can still find quite a bit of the rail bed along that route. There is also some places that still have the line poles up with the glass insulators. But I have been trying to search the internet for this info. but have had not much luck. Much of the line that ran through the center of the town of Winchester is gone. People have built buildings or new roads have destroyed it.
I appreciate any help that is given.
