Railcams and homeland defence?

No havn't lost my mind.
But could the railcams that we watch protect the nation?
While looking at CNN.COM I found an news item on webcams being used to protect sites around the country. If we watch our cam sites I guess that we are protecting our country.
The guy who came up with this idea is no crackpot, he started Priceline.com.
Later Jerry

There is no such thing as a bad day of railfanning. So many trains, so little time.
