Southern Pacific rostered 8 GP30s and COTTON BELT had another 10. All units were delivered in 1963 and some served into the later 1980s. The units were renumbered from their as delivered numbers of SP 7400-7407 and SSW 750-759 to SSW 5000-5009 and SP 5010-5017. The 5006 is preserved at the Arkansas Railway Museum in Pine Bluff.
