Illinois Central E8
Posted by eolafan on Friday, May 16, 2003 5:20 PM
Did anybody else other than me notice the Illinois Central E8 and private car at the engine refueling pads at Bensenville Yard (Chicago near O'Hare airport) today, along with some newly delivered UP SD70M units? Looking good!

There was also a newly painted Indiana Harbor Belt engine in front of the Wis. Cen. units there also. The private car looked like an old Wisconson Central business car.

Mike, like the old saying goes "every cloud has its silver lining". The silver lining yesterday was the sighting of these units and cars, but the cloud was being stuck in I294 traffic at rush hour bumper to bumper so that your could stand still long enought to see these things in Bensenville yard. We have our fun here in Chicago metro, but we pay a price. Jim

Greetings,

All of those units you saw were headed to Franklin Park Railroad Daze (yes Daze). The IC E-8 was on display along with the Wisconsin Central observation car. Also newly painted Belt Railway units, Indiana Harbor Belt, Union Pacific SD70M, Norfolk Southern GP38 with the new white face paint scheme. Also CP had a AC4400. The ICE had two units on display on was the "Mt. Rushmore". Also Amtrak and Metra had equipment there. It was a nice event. Had to the chance to ride Amtrak and Metra to get there.
