LMX dead lines

While flying into Chicago Midway airport recently I saw from the air three long lines of former LMX General Electric units (four axle I belive). They were in long "dead" lines evidently in storage for quite a while. I used to see these units on the BNSF out of Chicago all the time but that was quite a few years back, and then nothing since. Anybody know why they are now stored and what is planned (if anything) for them?

I wouldn't worry too much about these units heading off to the scrappers just yet. These were "lease units" from the start, soon enough, they will find a new (temporary) home.

Todd, thanks for your thoughts and I sure hope you are right as they are too "young" for the scrappers torch, however they have been in the same spot for about two years now!
