I'd bet the proverbial farm on that, too. Schools don't want to teach kids anything practical like common sense. Then again I was as dumb as any kid at 13 and I somehow survived. By the way do you mean OLS? Baka was used as the code name for a Japanese suicide/ Kamakazi rocket, which was one of the first cruise missles, ever. The name described the pilots of those things, which weren't too successful, since the bombers that were to launch them were shot down by Navy F8F Bearcats,F4U Corsairs or AAF P-51s long before they got within range for launching. We lost a destroyer to one and it was one of the worst such incidents for the USN up to that time.

Boy verses train? I'm placing all my money on the train. There is a 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance the train could derail during emergency braking.

Each time an idiot dies, that frees up a little more food, water, & oxygen for the rest of us.

Cost of ticket from UP - $50
Cost of ticket from Kirkwood PD - $250
Cost of not being hit by train - Priceless

This is one LUCKY child! Maybe I'm a bit of a cynic but something tells me that this thrill seeking idiot will try this again or something like it ... until the Law of Averages catches up with him.[xx(]

Baka!
Posted by bnsfkline on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 6:42 PM
I was in Kirkwood today, and saw the dumbest person of my life.

Train I-DULA (Dupo- Las Angles Intermodal) was moving at about 35-40 MPH with 2 SD70M's and a NS C40-9 Standard cab. Just as the train was about 50 feet from the crossing, a 13 year old boy runs out IN FRONT OF THE TRAIN. This scared the crew as the engineer laid back on the horn and completly violated the noise ordinance in the city of kirkwood. I got the whole thing on video.

I called the Kirkwood Police department, and several of the passengers at the Kirkwood Depot prevented him from leaving the scene. Union Pacific Police and Kirkwood Police both issued tickets, and the UP police spoke to the kid for about 45 minutes. The only way he got to leave was when the boys mom, who had to leave work to go pick him up from the station.

Tickets issued:
Trespassing (By UP, $50.00)
Crossing Tracks when train is coming (By Kirkwood PD, $250.00)

Can somebody say this kid is going to be grounded?

BTW, BAKA is Japanese for Idiot.
