Ah, yes Thanksgiving. Way back when I was 8 (7?) My grandmother rode up with my cousins to see Niagara Falls in winter. Never mind that the falls wouldn't freeze for another eight weeks or so, my grandmother wasn't too fussy on points like that. She rode up to Buffalo on NYC 51, the Empire State Express. My folks gathered up my sister and I and off to Central Terminal we went! It was cold and drafty in there, but once I made it down into my element (trackside) I was grabbed by the collection of E units towards the front of the trains. 51's (Cleveland section)Es were on one side of the platform and 351's (For Detroit) were on the other side. Four to six E8s and/or E7s as well as the Alco S1 switching the cars were irresistible to this kid! So, my folks and my sister went down the platform toward where my grandmother was getting off 51 with my cousins. Guess where I was! The realization that I was not where I was supposed to be hit everyone at once, and a search began. They didn't even think about going to where the E units had me transfixed. I was apprehended by an NYC conductor, who delivered me to my worried/angry family. I was in DOO-DOO. Lots of it! Ah, this tale isn't over. Many years later I heard an old Central ticket puncher tell the tale. I laughed and fessed up. We all had one hell of a laugh, nearly 40 years later. So, That's my Thanksgiving story. I hope you will enjoy it.[:D]

Happy Thanksgiving to all from the great state of Michigan, home of the REAL Polar Express. Today we get our real first snowfall, 1-3 inches, in the greater Detroit area.
Have a safe and blessed holiday & maybe some steam views. The Pere Marquette 1225 Bershire is running this weekend out of Owosso Michigan as the Polar Express-sold out but can still follow and photograph in the snow! Enjoy.

I was just going to post that and you beat me to it. I posted in Zach's thread first allowing you to beat me to the punch. [;)]

Happy Thanksgiving

If you are traveling be careful, today is the busiest travel day of the entire year.

I hope everyone gets to be with family and friends and cheri***hat time. Unfortunately I didn't get to make my normal home going trip this year, I have to work both days. I am sure others in the business would tell you, the holiday money is good, but I would much rather get to be with family over the money.

Everyone have a super Thanksgiving, and enjoy this time with family, food, and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the forum participants! I have been a member for some time now (although this is my first post) and have greatly enjoyed the information provided here. I have had a lot of questions about various aspects of railroading answered. I just wanted to say thanks for the time and effort that the contributors put into the discussion. I hope that everyone will enjoy the holiday.
