I'm all for it, but I call the BNSF anniversary! Been planning that for a while!
Nanaimo73, you might not be able to start good posts, but you're the best information source I know!

Other than reading about the Frisco, I know nothing about it. I thought I read that some of Frisco's top brass went on to high up positions at BN?

So.... What do you think of the merger of Frisco by BN?

You guys are missing one *small* detail: I don't know anything![(-D] So, I need the help of all you guys. I've been looking high and low through books and magazines for dates, events and such. Who can help?

I second the motion, provided he's willing to do it.

I think a "Today in railroad history", would be great. I nominate Murphy Siding to be in charge of it. Can I get a second?

Murphy-

If this one doesn't generate too much interest, try a new one tomorrow. I'll look.

Sounds like a great idea, Murph. Give the young'uns on this forum a daily history lesson (and me, too!).

You are excellent at adding to them![:)]

It might be the time of day issue. I'm in the Central time zone, and eat lunch at home every day. You're in the Pacific(?) time zone, 2-3 hours behind a lot of us, so I'd guess there aren't many people on line.

BN + SLSF was a bit unexpected when it was first proposed since MKT was viewed as the next logical merger partner for BN, primarily for its Kansas City-Texas main line.

In an effort to promote non-political, non-spitting match,RAILROAD discussion, would you all be willing to add to a daily railroad history post? We seem to have some pretty interesting discussions, once we actually start discussing. nanaimo73 gave me a head's up about the Frisco info, but I didn't get the jump on him.[:)] So...........

Today, Nov. 21st, in railroad history:

Burlington Northern merged Frisco, 1980

What can anybody add to this?
