BUILDING A REAL TRAIN AND TRACK?

Hi i was wondering if anyone could tell me where i can find some information on where i can purchase track and other things to make a real train around my property. I have always been very interested in trains and there are two state parks near my house that have small trains around the parks. The locomotives are powered with volkswagon engines. I would like to build one of these type train tracks around my property but i have no idea where i can purchase all the things i need like the track mainly.
