Ahhhh...after 14 days and 23 posts later, Der Forum Meister has answered!!
Well sir, you have me at a slight disadvantage here, I didn't catch your name. Well thats all right.
I'm not having a snit over"Snitz", but it sure works for me. What you posted previously I read the same thing last Sept-Oct. Could you kinda pin it down a little more? When?
Thanks Tim

Yes, Trains.com is looking at updating the forum section.

Check out FineScale.com for a look at another Kalmbach site that IS using the SNITZ forums.

so, "big paul", if you're still visiting the forum off and on, some of us have been asking the $64 million question: is a new forum system in the works? will an easier way to navigate between topics and posts within topics be introduced in the next few weeks?

Hello cabforward,

Nothing to apologize for! I do have access to the administration tools because of my duties with Trains.com, but I'm not a decision-maker. And I was glad to help you out.

Take care,

Paul

No, don't write to me; I'm not the person who oversees the formatting of Trains.com, and I certainly don't have the go/no-go authority over the new forum. Please send any comments to editor@trains.com.

Thanks,

Paul

Try these;
atlasrr.com
railroadforum.com
railroad-line.com
trainboard.com
trainweb.com
trainweb.org
Also go to the Yahoo! Groups. They have over
1000 forums alone for railroad enthusiasts. They also have 1175 forums for model railroaders One group I really like is called RAILROADmodeler. This is where some of the "big guns do a lot of posting (Jim Six, Blair Koostria, and others) on kit building etc.
I hope this helps. Tim P.S. No I'm not being unfaithful to Trains/MR, like Ed says "This is America and fredom of speech etc." Also I have been a subscriber/purchaser to Trains/MR since 1959!! So I kinda figure, that JUST MAYBE, I have paid my dues. After rereading this please excuse the miselling of Blair kooistria's name. I still haven't figured out the spell check thing!!

Bad choice of words on my part. New to the forum, sorta, and it seems that a few people are griping about how they get the information, and how they have to "work" at reading it, and it just seemed to me odd, considering its free, and there are so many other things to discuss. But, last time I looked, this was America, and everyone has the right to say or write what they wish, so I will leave off making any more comments about it. Maby its due to the time I am "On Line" and its so late theres no traffic, but I havent had a problem.
And so it goes...
And I subscribe to them also, and am working on the library too, kinda...
Stay Frosty,
Ed

No begging here ED, I have, and continue to subscribe to TRAINS for the past 27 years. Also Classic Trains and I also have several Kalmbach books in my library. I believe that most of us are just making friendly suggestions for improvements to the staff.

Can you post links to these other forums, except Trainorders. Trainorders is pretty much "lookit my train pics.com" these days.

Wow, either I have a really fast machine, or the extra memory my wife added really kicks butt, but I just read all eight postings here in less then 90 seconds.
And I agree, if your ridding for free, dont beg for dinner too!

I agree, this format is tedious at best. It takes too long to get through the postings. I rarely read them unless I have loads of time to wait while each message loads. I like Railroad.net forums for ease of use.

Hey Ventrue, look at the other forum formats, like Atlas, Trainorders, RR-l, and even good old Yahoo! and compare the particapation/replies. That says it all. Your're right! Thats why I don't really take the time to read much off of Trains/Mr forums. Ya I know, I'm reading this. Well I'm just trying to get a rise (answer) from Der Forum Meister Tim

man, if it weren't for having to click thru 120 pages to view 120 (many 2 sentence) replies this forum would be the bomb.

I believe I read that too. I liked the original format when this site first went online. By the time I have this format figured out, there will be a new one.

Trains/MR forums format
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 4:01 PM
As I recall back in Sept, early Oct, I remember reading a topic about Trains/MR were in the proccess of redesigning the forums to a more favorable format. According to someone who wrote in that this would be completed shortly after the first of the year. Well I was just wondering, how is the progress coming?? Have you looked at a format called Snitz?? I sure would appreciate an answer from Der Forum Meister
Thanks Tim from behind the cheddar curtain
