Dear jvmalone,
Might I suggest James W. Kerr's Locomotive Rosters and News. This book has complete rosters for American and Canadian railroads, ands also has notes about renumberings, build dates, etcetera. I got my first one last year, and it is hard to imagine how I railfanned without it! I highly reccomend it.

If you cannot find this book (it is not sold at all train stores), might I suggest the more widely available Altamont Press Timetables, which have rosters with renumbering notes and the like, although the rosters only include railroads covered in the issue of the timetable. Really, I would suggest you get both. I hope I have helped

Sincerely,
Daniel

I don't know of any sites but I have quite a collection on world railroads. Let me know what you are looking for and, if I have it, I will be glad to share.

Now how about sites for other railroads?

This would really come in handy if it included all railroads.

Can anyone list a site for this?

Does anyone know what resource material, such as publications or web sites, that might be available to obtain chronological historical data on any givem locomotive... i.e. unit CN 4700 , previously CP 112, previously TH&B 12 etc. This information come out often in Trains mag stories and I would like to have access to this information for my own personal use .
Thanks in advance for any help.
