What I find unique is that so many molten sulphur trains are powered by WC power.

The one Joe saw was, all the ones I've seen around here are, and if you go to railpictures.net and use "molten sulphur" as keywords, the largest percentage of your results will have WC power , even in states such as Florida, Alabama, tennessee, and Georgia.

I wonder if they do this (run through) to save time running the molten sulphur while it is hot??

And, I wonder what they do if a car full of that stuff 'freezes' back solid?

Does anyone have any idea why so much sulfur going to Lake City? It's been over 20 years since I was there, but I don't remember any major industry. Lake City is on the ex-SAL secondary main between Jacksonville and Tallahassee, so it's far north of the Bone Valley phosphate region east of Tampa.

Not to be confused with the Coors train that looks a lot like that with icky stuff on the tanker top and sides and probably tastes just about as bad.....

Mookie, tank cars with yuckie yellow stains running down the sides of the
tank cars. Definitely hazardous material.

Joe, if it was headed southwest, it might have been on it's way here to
our "Rubbertown" area, where we see all the sulphur cars.

Joe: What does a "sulpher" train look like - just a lot of tankers with specific placards?

Lucky! All we get on sulfer trains since 2000 is AC4400s and the occasional SD90. Just like almost everywhere else in north america.

We send a lot of sulfur to Hopewell, Virginia, routed there via both CSX and NS. That must be one yellow-looking town!
