Thanks for the "head-up". I also don't register for newpaper articles and such. I am a Fairmont speeder owner, but will wait and see if the Tribune piece shows up in a local paper.
NARCOA, the national organization, meets yearly in Chicago for the annual meeting.

Thanks again for the notification,
Roland

Sweet! As a rule, I don't log in to places if I don't have to, but I will here.

Before it disappears into the cyber-trash, interested railfans will appreciate the article "Little Engines That Can," that appeared on page 1 of the Transportation section (Section 12) in the Sunday, September 11 CHICAGO TRIBUNE.

It's all about RR speeders and the people who love them--in addition to discussing the fun of it, there is some mention of history, economics, and otIher trends that make speeders so valued today. For once, this article is very low on the smirk factor--the author, Paul Duchene, takes this hobby (or passion?) pretty much at face value.

Mr. Duchene's byline is listed as "Special to the Tribune," and that usually indicates a freelance or stringer submission -- therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if this article, or a diffferently edited version of it, winds up soon (if not already) in the Transportation or Travel sections of other metropolitan Sunday papers.

It's easy to read this article by logging onto chicagotribune.com. The paper does not share e-mails if you ask them not to. However, sooner is definitely much better than later (this week). [;)]
