This is an Official Release from Dave Roth of the GOLDEN GATE RR MUSEUM:

California State Railroad Museum has arranged with the Pacific Locomotive Association to lease the 2467 for 10 years for display. CSRM crews have been in our yard making preparations to get the 2467 to Sacramento in time for their Admission Day weekend event. September 9-11. $1 million has been put into their new exhibit "We've Been Working on the Railroad", highlighting the human face of railroading. All state museums and historic parks will have free admission for the weekend.CSRM locomotives Amtrak 281 and SP 6051 were sent down to make the hospital move. The 2467 left today along with the SP 9053 Pullman, which has been on loan from R&LHS, and the UP 532 coach we traded to them to use on their Sacramento Southern. They plan to stop in Oakland tonight, and make Sacramento by Sunday evening. We wi***hem a safe journey.

That is it. I guess I wasn't looking at the trucks on the SP unit well enough, but those are definately the spark arrestors I saw and the F40 I saw. Although when I saw it the E unit was trailing and one of the headlights were red.
And it was underpower. Looked like it could use a rack adjustment!

There is an F9 painted in SPs black widow scheme running around in northern California.Since SP never had F9s I have no idea whose unit that was.A Daylight F is a new one to me,someone could have painted it that way just for fun[%-)].

If it wasn't painted Cotton Belt, someone's pulling your leg. There's only one SP-family F-unit ever painted that way, SSW 330/306, an FP7. When it went to SP in the 60's it was already in the bloody nose paint scheme and was renumbered 6462. Here is a photo:

While we're on the subject SSW had the SP family's other oddity--the only GP7 SSW 320/304, also painted Daylight. Thjis unit also eventually got the bloody nose paint job.

No it had taller spark arresters and it was a B-B not a C-C. I didn't want to insult the covered wagon fans since I don't know my F 7s, 9s, and FTs apart. But it definately wasn't the E9 from the railroad museum.

In Davis(CA) yesterday I saw an odd twosome. An Amtrack painted F40PH(#281) with a SP Daylight painted covered wagon F type of some kind. They were headed westbound. Both were under power and no cars in tow. I think the number of the F unit was 651, not sure as I was stunned to see the old F40PH and when I walked around to see what it was pulling I was shocked to see the running F-unit.
Anyone know where they were going or who they may belong to?
