As I said in the last thread, take all this with a grain of salt, still no posting on the offical schedule for it to make any other excursions this summer.

No, not this time. It's going through Klamath Falls.

I heard it was a rod bearing overheating, F6 pin or something like that.

From Altamont press:

Michael posts regarding: UP 3985 West to Roseville and Portland?

This has been poster on a few other boards
"The UP 3985 (The Challenger, 4-6-6-4 locomotive) and about UP 8 - 10 passenger cars will be visiting Northern California and Oregon next month. I don't have all the specific dates but I do have the route. It'll be coming out from Cheyenne Wyo. via the Feather River route to Roseville, CA , on up to Portland, then back to Cheyenne via the Columbia River route. It will be travelling from Roseville to Dunsmuir, CA. , Sept. 5th then staying overnight in Dunsmuir. On the 6th it'll leave for Klamath Falls and points east (espee jargon). Feel free to pass along."

My guess is that they would be through the Willamette Valley on the 7th, but no guarantees as of yet. Kind of makes it awkward for those who have to work or be educated (that's a Wednesday), but the beauty of the world is that the excuse "things came up" can do wonders.
