I saw SP 144 today. It was nice to see an unpatched SP locomotive after over a year. Unfortunately, I would not be surprised if it is the last SP locomotive I see.

It looked like it was on the QFRNPP.

SP AC4400 171 was through Buffalo on its way to Somerset to pick up empty hoppers for return to Wyoming. She ought to be going WB through Ohio today 1.27.07. It was trailing a UP AC4400, and, barring action by the crew, it should be leading headed west. But then...Sign - Dots [#dots]

Had SP 199 in my consist about a week ago, loco data card shows it still as SP 199 not UP 199, dispatcher had trouble entering the number in the computer. NO patches on this locomotive that I could see but it was 3 am and dark, unit was extremely dirty.

I hope this hasn't already been posted but...

3016 is in Athens, GA near the University of Georgia

3021 I believe is in Lavonia, GA

3044 is in Lavonia, GA in original paint!

Between the Great Walton, Hartwell, and Athens line (all owned by the same guy) there are some DRGW, RF&P, B&LE, Conrail, C&NW, Chessie, South Carolina Central, and the also just got a geep from Florida...

All of the SP's and Cotton Belts were. The Rio Grandes didn't appear to be---any idea why?

Folks, if you want to see old (and I mean OLD) SP and Cotton Belt units go to the San Juaquin valley.  I just got back from there and I must have seen 12 old SP units, plus two old Cotton Belt units pushing cars in the Fresno yard.  I also saw a couple of Rio Grandes' with badly faded paint.  Anywhere from Visalia to Stockton you can find these locos.

They are all patched though.

No numbers, but I have seen a few SP units in the last 2 weeks.  A few dash 9s and a SD45 tunnel motor.  There are 2 SW1500s parked on a storage tracks in the old block SP lettering.  I haven't seen any D&RGW or SSWs.

There are no more 9-44CWs or SD45T-2s numbered for SP. It must be AC4400CWs and SD45T-2s owned by leasing companies that have had very little modifications made to the paint scheme.

They were all renumbered for UP.  Are you asking only about non-renumbered units?

Yes, the original intent was for reporting of locomotives that still have their SP, SSW, or DRGW numbers. Reporting sightings of renumbered locomotives would drown the reports of unrenumbered locomotives.

Unpatched SP 8621 was rattling around the branches out of Brigham City before Christmas but since Christmas the branches are using two units instead of three so no more SP.

To my knowledge there is only one unpatched Rio Grande loco still roaming around. The numbers of the other merged roads are also dwendling. Sad [:(]

This is DRGW 5371 an SD40T-2. UP is keeping it in Utah.

I saw SP 8674 yesterday. I suspect that it was on a WCEUM, but may have been a WCRVM.

I don't if you are still keeping track or not, but this evening on a S.a. coal train  here in Parsons was an unpatched, speed lettered Southern Pacific unit #324;it was the second unit behind a UP #8034, according to the UPRR roster the lead was an SD9043AC, and the SP#324 was a GEC44AC.

SP 7135 Morrison/Knudsen Rail rebuilt GP40-2 running locals out of Phoenix on 04/07/06 and on 04/13/06. Both times coupled to 'patched' GP60 1919 (early SP phase-1 dynamic brake hatch).

Saw 8674 working a local this morning. No patch or sublettering (ie CEFX), still in speed lettering.

Well I didn't get numbers or anything, but I swung by Dolores yard last weekend and there were at least a half dozen SP / SSW locos around. I think a couple were even unpatched (AC4400s).
