one of my favorite series...GE 999 started as an Anime TV series now on video, set in the far future where humans are a minority with no rights hunted for sport by mechanized humanoids who in return for immortality, has given up their human bodies and their souls. Great Concept Eh!

The GE 999 is actually a spaceship, built to resemble a classic steam locomotive ( A postwar Japanese 4-8-4) and heavywieght passenger cars. Its this train that centers around the main characters who board it to carry them on a fatefull mission, the series concerns stops along the way towards the final fiery climatic conclusion of the series.

It is built to resemble something from a human past that while it no longer exists still has a resonence and longing of memory within the mecha-populace. The metaphor of life as a journey is paramount throughout the series. It also spawned two of Japans favorite characters in anime, the Space Pirates Queen Emeraldas and one of my favorite Anime Heros, the anti-hero, Captain Harlock, who represents the human resistance to the anti-human mecha-horror the the universe has become. FUN STUFF[:D]

Wikilopedia has a good synopsis of it.

Ah, GE 999, Classic Anime...This should be over on the Model Railroader forum but I'll give it a stab, if the passenger cars are repedative, same car for all 6, then theres no reason why the cars from a second kit couldnt be added, if there is a special last car like an observation car, then you could just omit one car from the second kit and add the observation car, you still get 11 cars instead of only 6. The biggest thing I see is that you would need more track and given that I have no idea what scale this kit it HO N ? that might be a bit of a problem if you cannot connect the bases together. Good Luck [8D]
